Test compatibility of the sealant with the adjoining materials. Incompatible substances can lead to discoloration or other impairments, such as the loss of adhesion of sealant.
Ideal for DIY applications.
The substrate areas that will be in contact with the sealant must be clean, dry, and free of all loose material such as dust, dirt, oil, and other contaminants. Non-porous substrate should be cleaned with solvent. Remove residual solvent before it evaporates with a fresh, clean, dry cloth. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle to the desired bead size. Load into caulking gun. Apply sealant to the surface, pushing the sealant ahead of the nozzle. Smooth bead with a finishing tool if necessary. Clean up excess uncured sealant from the surface and tools with mineral spirits. Excess cured sealant must be removed mechanically.
